History of Sun Valley

Sun Valley's creator Robert Minor graduated from Stafford High in the early 1950's He joined the U.S. Marine Corps. and fought for our country in the Korea War, upon his return to Stafford he started the Skyline quarry which is still in use today.

In the early 1960's Bob and 3 other partners decided to buy the property of the old Whitney Dairy farm. after the partners could not decide on a good way to improve the property, Bob bought them out with the profits from the sale of the Skyline Quarry. At that time The lake we know today was only a swampy stream running through the center of the cow pasture.

Always looking to improve on Sun Valley, in 1984 the Club House Cafe and Hall was opened to the Public. The Club House Cafe features a full bar and restaurant, with a deck overlooking Sun Valley Lake. The Smaller hall is perfect for small weddings and parties.

In 1987 Sun Valley created the camping co-op giving families the opportunity to own their own piece of Sun Valley. Sun Valley also offers seasonal, weekly or monthly site (furnished) rentals. At the same time the garden house was opened above the back beach. The garden house is available to members to rent out by the day.

Message from the webmaster: Sun Valley has been a top New England family destination since the 1960's, I have spent every summer here since I was a week old. I met my wife here and today our children enjoy the same fun and safe summer we grew to love.
